VEEDERSBURG — Mountie “Maude” Belle Drake, 98, known as Maude passed away at 8:17 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2001 in the Oxford Community Living Center. She was born May 3, 1902 near Yeddo, the daughter of Charles M. and Ossiebelle Kunkle Patterson. She married Trella W. Drake Sept. 9, 1925. He preceded in death in 1979. She attended Yeddo school and was a telephone operator before her marriage. They lived at what had been his father’s farm north of Kingman until retiring to Veedersburg in 1968. She entered Oxford Community Living Center in March 1995. Maude was a 50-year member of the Yeddo Order of Eastern Star and the Millcreek Home Extension Club.  She had also been a member of the Past Matrons and Patrons Club, the Wallace Cabalistic Club, Fountain County Historical Society, Hub Club, The Birthday Club and the Kingman's Women’s Club. She was an excellent rose gardener and enjoyed nature, crafts, crocheting and fishing. Survivors include: a nephew, Lowell (Marsha) Patterson of  Harrisburg, Ill.; a grandniece and six grand-nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, her parents,  also preceded in death by a brother, Vinson Patterson; a nephew, Leon Patterson; and a niece, Rosalie Stonebraker Griffin. Services were at noon Saturday in Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with the Rev. Larry McMillan officiating. Burial was in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery – jlr
